DESCRIPTION:
French cast fisherman spelter figural, 8 days, time and strike, mantel clock on painted wood base (no glass dome), unsigned movement, c1880
CONDITION:
the large ornate case appears to retain its original gilt finish, with some wear and one repair to a side piece. The base black paint also is worn. The white porcelain dial is chipped and cracked. There was never a front bezel or rear door as the movement was originally protected from dusty by a glass dome. The movement ticks and strikes, with a newer pendulum, but was not tested further. Ht on base 19 1/2", base width is 20"
